This injection is an outpatient procedure. Caudal injections are administered to assist in the reduction of lower back and lower extremity pain caused by sciatica, herniated discs, bone spurs and other back problems. The medication is injected into the lower back area, between the membrane that contains spinal fluid (the dura) and the thickest ligament between the vertebra.
This injection may assist with reducing inflammation and alleviating a portion or all of the pain to help assist in a better quality of living for chronic pain sufferers. Results may be observed within an hour post procedure with long-term relief commonly observed within 2-3 days.
