Suprascapular Nerve Blocks

A Suprascapular Nerve Block is a single injection of steroid and numbing medication administered to the top portion of the shoulder or the suprascapular nerve. When there is damage to the suprascapular nerve you may experience weakness and pain with reaching above your head.

Usually, your pain relief will improve within the first few hours after the injection due to the numbing medication. The steroid can take 2 to 5 days o take effect and provide pain relief. Once the steroid takes effect, pain relief can be expected for 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure. Relief will vary from patient to patient.
